His appreciation and passion for wine stem
from his childhood spent working alongside his father and
grandfather at Greens Farms Spirit Shop in Westport,
Connecticut. Pursuing his own dreams, Kevin came to San Luis
Obispo, California to attend and graduate from Cal Poly, with a
degree in Agriculture Business. Kevin possesses a natural
talent producing Zinfandel and Rhone wines and has spent more
than 10 years perfecting winemaking and cellar experience
throughout Paso Robles, California.
Proulx and Blackburn Wine
Company are the results of a labor of love and a lot of hard
work.
Owners, Genoa and Kevin Riley started
these two brands after Genoa ran tasting rooms and Kevin made
wine for many successful Paso Robles wineries. At some point
they thought it would be a dream to do it for themselves. In
2004 they started crushing fruit for Proulx and Blackburn from
Genoa's family's vineyard located in the heart of Paso Robles'
renown west side Vineyard Drive. The fifty five year old
vineyard is run by Kevin and has been producing stellar wines
for many years, and 2004 was no exception. With that success,
they hit the ground running selling out of 600 cases of their
first vintage in a matter of months.
